Thai Language

Thai culture needs to be understood from the ethnic traditions of the various peoples who migrated to Thailand to form the Thai culture as we understand it today, it has influences from India through religion and mythology, plus the myths of some of the minorities living in Thailand and animist traditions which continue today. From these traditions we have a Thai culture where belief systems are distinguishable from elsewhere and the themes of these are reflected in the performing arts of music and dance, in the art forms of woodwork, sculpture, murals, pottery and bronze and significantly in architecture forms and decorations, both in the past and continuing in new buildings today. Most importantly, Thai culture is significant in the behavior, customs and beliefs of the Thai people today.
Standard Thai, also known as Central Thai or Bangkok Thai, is the official, national language of Thailand. It is spoken by around eighty percent of the sixty million residents of the country. It is taught in all schools and is used for most television broadcasts. There are also three other major dialects: southern, northern and northeastern (also referred to as “isaan”). Since Standard Thai is widely understood in all regions, the language taught in Pre-Service Training (PST) will be Standard Thai.
Most Thai words are monosyllabic. More complex words are generally formed by combining two monosyllabic words. There are, however, some polysyllabic words. These words are usually borrowed from Pali, Sanskrit, English, and other languages that cannot be broken down into monosyllabic components. The population of Thai language users
According to UNSD Demographic Statistics, United Nations Statistics Division, the population is mostly rural, concentrated in the rice-growing areas of the central, northeastern, and northern regions. However, as Thailand continues to industrialize, its urban population–31.6% of total population, principally in the Bangkok area–is growing. This core population includes the central Thai (33.7% of this population, including Bangkok), northeastern Thai (34.2%), northern Thai (18.8%), and southern Thai (13.3%). Ethnic Malay Muslims comprise a majority in the southernmost provinces.
Up to 14% of Thailand’s population is of Chinese descent, but the Sino-Thai community is the best integrated in Southeast Asia. Malay and Yawi-speaking Muslims of the south comprise another significant minority group (2.3%). Other groups include the Khmer; the Mon, who are substantially assimilated with the Thai; and the Vietnamese. Smaller mountain-dwelling tribes, such as the Hmong and Mein, as well as the Karen, number about 788,024. Some 300,000 Hmong, who ironically have lived this area for more generations than the Thais themselves, received citizenship by 2010. Thailand is also home to a significant number of registered foreigners from Asia, Europe, and North America, as well as an estimated several hundred thousand illegal immigrants, some of which are natives. Increasing numbers of migrants from Burma, Laos, and Cambodia as well as nations such as Nepal, India, and expats from the West and Japan.

Potential of Economic Values through Korean Language

The learning of a foreign language is often thought of in terms of its potential economic benefit and value. Among Asian languages, Korean’s economic miracle during the 1980s generated unprecedented international interest in Korean business, language, and culture. More recently, South Korea has quickly repositioned itself to become a major player in the global economy through its electronics and communications industries, medical tourim, as well as popular culture and entertainment industries.

Korean language learning and translation has become more important through the World especially in ASEAN Community. Recently, there has been an important increase in the number of foreigners traveling to South Korea to learn Korean, especially among middle-aged and older women, thanks perhaps to the recent popularity of South Korea’s popular cultural industries among ASEAN, which has helped raise a greater awareness of and interest in Korean culture in ASEAN.

Types of Interpretation

Types of Interpretation Services in Singapore

Interpreting is a form of communication where one takes a message from a source language and converts that message into a different target language. As the globalization takes place, effective communication is one of the key factors to achieving success in overseas markets. When languages create a communication barrier, Interpretation services help to achieve the goals and objectives effectively. Language Interpretation is the assisting of oral communication between users of different language. Interpretation has different modes: Simultaneous, Consecutive and Whispered.

In Simultaneous Interpretation, the interpreter needs to formulate and render the message in the target language as quickly as possible from the source language. In this mode the interpreters need to use equipment like microphone, earphones and a sound proof booth where they will be staying while listening to the speaker via earphone and relaying the interpreted message via microphone. Simultaneous Interpreters must have completely mastered the target and source language for them to easily transmit the message to the delegates or participants of the meeting or court hearing. They also must have technical knowledge of the subject to be discussed, as well as interpretation skills and experience.

In Consecutive Interpretation, the interpreters relay the message after the source-language presenter finishes speaking one to three sentences. Unlike in the simultaneous where the message should be formulated immediately, in consecutive they have time to formulate and interpret the message according to the way that the speech is divided into segments. The interpreter normally stands or sits beside the speaker, he or she will listen and take notes as the speaker progresses through a speech. When the speaker pauses in one segment it’s the turn of the Interpreter to interpret and transmit the portion or the entire message in the target language. This is the most common form of interpretation, and does not require special equipment.

In Whispering Interpretation, the process is like the simultaneous interpretation but without equipment and in a small group only. This kind of Interpretation normally is advisable in a small group conference or meeting where one or two persons in the group cannot understand the source language so the interpreter needs to whisper the formulated target language as quickly as possible. Since whispering interpretation requires just as much concentration as the simultaneous interpretation, the interpreters are also working as a team to convey the message effectively and accurately.

Interpreting is more demanding than translation, translators have time to amend and revise the documents before delivering it to the clients, and however in Interpretation the goal is to achieve total accuracy at source promptly. If one fails, the entire Interpretation will be unsuccessful. This is why professional interpreters must be well versed in the subject being discussed, up-to-speed on current events, and have good general knowledge.

Translation is the communication of the meaning of a source-language text by means of an equivalent target-language text. The word translation derives from the Latin translatio, which itself comes from trans- and fero, together meaning "to carry across" or "to bring across".

Reaching foreign markets is very essential now days because it can contribute a lot in the increase of your target market. Getting your foreign market is never easy because you may encounter some obstacles especially the “language barriers”. Penetrating the foreign market means adapting to their needs, culture and language.

Good quality translation is very important because one mistake can make the whole meaning of translation differ from its original text. It should not be word-by-word literal translation because sometimes it does not capture the exact meaning or spirit of the whole sentence or phrase. It is very critical to do proper translation of documents because poor quality translation will affect your image and reputation.

High quality training of translators is the key factor to ensure documents are well translated. It always helps if the translator has good understanding of the subject matter and a good understanding of the culture of target market.

We do not translate the source file word-by-word as it may cause some distortion to the meaning. Before submitting the final translated document we make a thorough quality check to ensure that the documents are translated in a good and accurate manner.

Types of interpretation or translation service

Language Interpretation is the facilitation of dialogue between parties both oral or sign-language communication which takes a message from a source language and renders that message into a different target language. There should be an interpreter that will take in a complex concept from one language, choose the most appropriate vocabulary in the target language to faithfully render the message in a linguistically, emotionally, tonally, and culturally equivalent message. Here are the forms of Interpretation:

First, Consecutive Interpretation which can be considered as the most recognizable form of interpretation. Spoken words are interpreted in the target language as soon as the speaker finishes speaking. Two languages are spoken one after the other. When this type of interpretation is used, the interpreters rely heavily on taking notes so that they do not have to work exclusively from memory.

Simultaneous Interpretation is a highly specialized area of translations, which requires accurate and complete translation, orally and at the same rate of speech as the speaker, with only a few seconds of lag time. Simultaneous interpreters must have not only complete mastery of the languages, but also of their cultures. In addition, they must have technical knowledge of the subject to be discussed, as well as the required simultaneous interpretation training, skill, and experience. However, even the best simultaneous interpreters cannot do a proper job unless they have appropriate equipment. Therefore, simultaneous interpretation must be approached as a coherent whole. This means that interpreters and interpretation equipment must be selected and designed to work together for the specific interpretation project. It can be Audio-visual & Interpretation Equipment Rental Companies and Freelance Interpreters.

Next is Whispered Interpretation which involves practically simultaneous interpretation without the use of technical aids. The interpreter sits next to or behind the listener and whispers the interpreted version into his or her ear. Thus, a maximum of two listeners can be served by one interpreter.

Relay Interpretation is interpretation necessary when more than two languages are involved in an interpreted event and no single interpreter commands all of the languages, or when no interpreter can be found in a given language combination.

Lastly, Liaison interpretation is similar to consecutive interpreting. The main deference is that the length of communicate is much shorter than in consecutive interpreting. It is an oral translation of a statement provided for a single person or a small group of people. No need of specialised equipment. Usually the interpreter is sitting next to the person providing the speech and because of short passages he is able to carefully and in detail convey without the necessity of using notes and must take breaks long enough for the interpreter to provide translation in targeted language without notes and without the risk of omitting any details or distorting the meaning of the primary information.
